To be honest, when she began to speak, I thought to myself, "They're not going to connect to this soft-spoken, middle-class white woman." I was never so wrong about a speaker. The students loved her message, her honesty and candidness. But there was something else, something unseen and unheard, that our students connected to in Rachel, and to be honest, I don't know what it is. Whatever, it was, it compelled them to complete the lessons in the curriculum and they still asked about her and the book. The Brignoni's are forever a part of The Chiles Academy family."
